"I’ve always had an inherent need to fabricate with wood and paint."

The most challenging duty has been to supply meaning to work and approach the task with a “recipe”. I’m a lifelong Baker, so one may think it an easy task but my interests are not corralled into a singular arena but by many influences; singular snapshots in a memory, life changing events and meaningful objects. These formulas may symbolize youth, joy, loss, restoration, freedom, nature and objects of desire. Every series deals with one or a combination of these ideas.

I am influenced by biomorphic and structured forms like Jean and Sophie Tauber Arp’s painted wood reliefs and Hans Hoffman’s use of bold color to convey emotion and excitement. I not only paint on traditional canvases, I build shaped wood canvases and utilize media that is conducive to the formula being conveyed.
